He lives at His wife's Farm House, off a dirt road outside the Capital. He has refuse to live in the Presidential Estate the Uruguayan state provides for its Presidents.
The President and his wife tills the land themselves and plant on it. He donates 90% of his Monthly salary which is $12,000 to charity, surviving on only 1%.
The only Car he drives is a 1987 Volkswagen Beetle.
He says "I'm called 'the poorest president', but I don't feel poor. Poor people are those who only work to try to keep an expensive lifestyle, and always want more and more,"
